What if Enniscorthy’s heritage assets were connected via a new historic spine and heritage trail?

Enniscorthy Town

Heritage-Led Regeneration Plan

  • Wexford County Council

  • July 2023 - December 2023

  • €45,000

Following the launch of the Enniscorthy Town Centre First Plan (ETCFP), we were appointed by Wexford County Council to develop a heritage-led regeneration plan for the town that amplified and complemented the impact of the ETCFP, whilst ensuring that heritage played a significant role in the redevelopment of the Town Centre.

In recent years, the town has been affected by significant redevelopment and a prioritisation of vehicles, which has led to the siloing of many heritage assets and an uncomfortable experience for the pedestrian. Whilst the ETCFP proposed a solution to managing traffic congestion, the integration of heritage assets into the redevelopment plans was underdeveloped.

Through an ambitious engagement process, we worked with the steering group and local community to map key assets and develop a vision and action plan that implemented positive heritage actions, which could be undertaken in conjunction with the actions of the ETCFP.

Work completed whilst employed by Urban Scale Interventions.
